Why should I join U3A?
U3A provides social and intellectual stimulation for older people who are not in full-time paid employment. Courses are designed to be enjoyable as well as educational. U3A may give you opportunity to learn something that you have not previously had time to pursue.
Who can join U3A Dandenong?
Membership is open to retired and semi-retired people, generally over 50 years of age, although we don’t impose age restrictions.
How much does it cost to join?
There is an annual membership subscription fee. The fees are listed on the Memberships page. Most courses are free, but some may have a separate fee for equipment or materials that will be indicated in the course description.
How do I join?
- Click the New Member Join link (under the Login drop down member in the top right of the menu bar).
- Fill in the form and submit.
- After joining, your membership number will be displayed and you will receive an email confirmation with your login details.
- You can then login to the membership management system, and enrol in one or more courses (Add to Cart, then Checkout).
- After enrolling in one or more courses, an invoice is generated with your annual subscription which you will need to pay prior to attending your first class.
How do I renew my membership?
You can renew your membership online after courses are made available for the new year by:
- Clicking the Existing Member Login link (under the Login drop down member in the top right of the menu bar).
- Login to the membership management system with your membership number/email address and password.
- Click on Courses (in left side menu).
- Enrol in one or more courses (Select Course, Add to cart, checkout).
- After enrolling in at least one course (Add to Cart, Checkout), your invoice will be generated with your annual subscription which you will need to pay prior to attending your first class.

Can I try before I buy?
Absolutely! If you are considering joining one of our courses, you may join the class or activity twice before committing to the class or membership. Contact the Memberships/Program coordinator (umas@dandenongu3a.org.au) to find out more.
Can I enrol in additional Courses throughout the year?
Yes, you can enrol in additional courses throughout the year. You may also be interested in new courses as they become available.
- Login to the membership system.
- Select the additional course(s) (Add to cart).
- Checkout the Cart.
- A new invoice will be generated with the additional course(s), with a $0 payment.
Where are Courses held?
Courses are held in a variety of locations, and each course will list their venue location. Find venue details on our Venues page.
What happens if the class I select is full?
You will be placed on a Waitlist and notified when a place becomes available. We strongly recommend you register your interest even if a Course is Full as this gives an indication of the level of interest and we may be able to run another course (depending on tutor and venue availability).
I am no longer able to attend a Course – what do I do?
- Login to the Membership system and click on My Enrolments
- Locate the Course, and click REQUEST REMOVAL
- Notify your Tutor
How are classes run?
Classes are run by Tutor members who voluntarily give their time.
What Courses are available?
We offer a range of Courses over two semesters each year. Some Course are one-off Courses and run for shorter periods. Other courses (e.g. cycling) may run all year round. See our full list of Courses on the Courses and Activities page.
Do Courses run during School Holidays?
We run 2 Terms, and typically follow the University semester dates. You can find our Term Dates on the lower of the Home page or right side menu of most pages.
What hours is the Office open?
You can visit our office during semester dates and can find our office hours on the Contact Us page. Note: the centre is closed to the general public. When you arrive at the centre, please ring the office on 9546 2997.
How do I get my name badge?
Membership badges are issued when you join and are available for collection at the office. Replacement badges are available from the office. It is important that you wear your membership badge to all U3A activities.
How can I become a Tutor?
Without Tutors, our classes would not run. All of our Tutors volunteer their skills and time. If you have a particular skill or passion that you would like to share, please consider running a class. Contact our program coordinator and find out how you can support our U3A.
How is U3A Dandenong administered?
U3A Dandenong is a not-for-profit incorporated association administered by a volunteer executive committee. We welcome any assistance you would like to offer. To contribute some of your time or knowledge, please contact us.
